MILWAUKEE — A sheriff's deputy and a suspected drunken driver have been injured following a high-speed chase and crash in Milwaukee County.

Sheriff's officials say a deputy tried stopping the driver who was going the wrong way on a major thoroughfare early Tuesday. The driver jumped on Interstate 94 and took off.

Sheriff spokeswoman Fran McLaughlin tells WTMJ radio (http://bit.ly/16iDgiG ) the driver was going more than 100 miles an hour over all lanes of traffic. The driver got on Highway 41 and crashed into a barrier in the stadium interchange. The deputy in pursuit crashed while trying to avoid some debris.

Both are expected to recover. Authorities say it's the suspect's third drunken driving offense.
