The Gophers women's soccer team remained undefeated Sunday, courtesy of an own goal in a 1-0 victory over Iowa State in Ames.

The Gophers' goal went in off Iowa State's Alyssa Williamson, who deflected the ball into the goal on a corner kick.

The loss was the first of the season for Iowa State (3-1). The Gophers improved to 4-0.

The Gophers played the bulk of the game without their leading scorer, Katie Thyken, who was injured in the first five minutes.

The game was physical, leading to two yellow cards and a red card. The first yellow card was issued to Iowa State's Kourtney Camy in the 51st minute. In the next minute, Camy committed another foul, this time on the Gophers' Taylor Stainbrook, and received a red card and ejection. The Cyclones played down a player for the final 38 minutes.

"This was one of the ugliest games I've been a part of," Gophers coach Stefanie Golan said. "I'm really proud of our girls fighting through the adversity and finding a way to close out a tough, physical Sunday afternoon game."
