Justin Morneau is not in the starting lineup today. ``He's been playing a lot of baseball,'' Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. With Monday being an off-day, Gardenhire figures that Morneau will get a nice break and will be ready to go on Tuesday when the Twins play host to the Royals.

Oswaldo Arcia is not in the starting lineup, either. Scott Kazmir has a 1.42 ERA in three starts against the Twins this season. Lefties are batting .211 against him, so Gardy is going with more righthanded hitters.

A nugget from Twins PR star Mitch Hestad:  Brian Dozier leads the AL with a .453 slugging percentage from the leadoff spot.

More Dozier: His 13 home runs are one shy of Tim Tuefel's club record for homers by a second baseman in a season.

Class AA New Britain shortstop Danny Santana has been named the Twins minor league player of the week after batting .429 with one home run, five RBI, two steals and four runs scored.

New Britain righthander  Alex Meyer, in his return to the Rock Cats last night after recovering from a sore shoulder, threw a pitch in the first inning that registered 100 miles an hour on the radar gun at Bowie, Md. The gun is considered to be a one or two miles high, but it's still impressive.
