Will Gardy reach 1,000 victories in a Twins uniform?

One interesting subplot for the Twins as they lurch toward the end of another season: will manager Ron Gardenhire reach 1,000 victories in a Twins uniform? What once seemed like a given has instead given way to speculation about his job security in the midst of successive losing seasons.
As Gardy stands now, he has a career managerial record of 980-912, all with the Twins. Minnesota would have to win 20 more ballgames this season to ensure he reaches a milestone that only 58 MLB managers have reached in history (Charlie Manuel should soon be 59).
Another 20 victories would mean the Twins won at least 68 this season (that exact number would mean 94 losses), which sadly would mean improvement over the past two seasons of 99 and 96 losses.
Will Gardy get there? We're guessing yes, but this is also the time of year where losing can become a hard habit to break. If the Twins don't get to 68 wins this season -- ensuring a third consecutive year of at least 95 losses -- it might be hard to imagine Gardenhire getting another crack at it with Minnesota in 2014.
