The absent-minded performer
Jerry Lewis returns to the TV screen, but this time it’s not for muscular dystrophy; it’s for his ego. “An Evening With Jerry Lewis: Live in Las Vegas” (8 p.m. Saturday, TPT Live) finds the 86-year-old legend looking back at his career though clips and anecdotes that will serve only die-hard fans.
Greatest stories ever told
It’s a “historic” week for the History Channel as it launches two ambitious projects, starting with “The Bible” (7 p.m. Sunday), a 10-part docudrama presented by “Survivor” producer Mark Burnett and his wife, Roma Downey, who has graduated from being touched by an angel to the role of Mother Mary. That’s followed by “Vikings” (9 p.m. Sunday), which has nothing to do with a certain football team. To find out more about this miniseries, check out Sunday’s Variety section.
“Twilight” saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg tries her hand at more grown-up drama in the new series “Red Widow” (8 p.m. Sunday, KSTP, Ch. 5), starring Radha Mitchell (“Pitch Black”) as a Mafia daughter who must reconnect with the crime organization after her husband is murdered. Let’s just hope she doesn’t worm her way back into the family by turning into a vampire.
Playing the Trump card
Gary Busey, Marilu Henner and Dennis Rodman are back for more abuse on a new cycle of “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice” (8 p.m. Sunday, KARE, Ch. 11). This routine may be getting old, but it’s hard to deny the guilty delight you’ll get from bitter exchanges between guest judge Piers Morgan and contestant Omarosa. Stick these two in the “Big Brother” house, and you’d have a massive hit on your hands.
