Dakota County residents will soon get a chance to weigh in on the services and performance of the county government. Approximately 2,700 randomly selected households will receive the county's resident survey, designed to get feedback on what people like and don't like in their community.

The packets will be mailed out starting Feb. 8.

Dakota County teamed with four other counties -- Olmsted, Washington, Scott and St. Louis -- and worked with the National Research Center to develop the survey questions, according to a news release.

The survey was last conducted in 2011. Results from that survey showed residents were split about 50/50 on the idea of a tax increase in order to support existing services.

The 2011 survey also showed residents were most concerned about pollution of natural resources and least concerned about expanding parks and other facilities.

Results of the new survey are expected this spring.
