A Boyd, Wis., hunter who killed a wolf the first day of the Wisconsin season says he received death threats soon after posting a report of his kill on Facebook.

Dennis Nitz shot his wolf on the first day of Wisconsin's season, Monday.

The wolf was a male, weighing 72 pounds.

Nitz had set traps and also was hunting from a blind, using a distressed rabbit call.

For a full accounting of Nitz's hunt, and the death threats he says he received, read a story by Paul Smith, outdoors editor of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
