Pro: Drafted by Dallas in fourth round in 1991. Was cut by the Cowboys in his first training camp before backing up Joe Montana and Steve Young in San Francisco (1991-1994) and John Elway in Denver (1995-1996). Threw 69 career passes with one touchdown.

Coaching: Offensive assistant in Oakland (1997) and Philadelphia (1998). ... Coached quarterbacks in Carolina in 1999 and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2000 but resigned after four games. ... Offensive coordinator at the University of Virginia in 2001 and 2002, helping tutor current Houston quarterback Matt Schaub. ... Jacksonville offensive coordinator from 2003 to 2004. ... Redskins quarterbacks coach in 2005. ... Spent 2006 to 2010 with Atlanta, where he served as quarterbacks coach for all five seasons and as assistant head coach in 2010. ... Hired by the Vikings as offensive coordinator before the 2011 season.
