Billed as a convivial party with music and conversation, the "Thinking Outside the Squeezebox II" celebrates the accordion.
Nationally and locally known accordion players will descend on O'Gara's Bar and Grill and Czech & Slovak Sokal Minnesota on Friday through next Sunday for three days of jazz, rock, zydeco, Klezmer, tejano, polka, folk and classical accordion music.
The event will feature performances by Maggie Martin and the Mad Maggies, Dan (Daddy Squeeze) Newton, Roxanne Oliva and Youkali, Dee Langley and Orkestar Bez Ime, Alicia Baker and Dan Garvin.
Also coming is an accordion flash mob at 10 a.m. Saturday at Common Good Books, 38 Snelling Av. S., and accordion enthusiast Marion Jacobson autographing copies of her book, "Squeeze This! A Cultural History of the Accordion in America" from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at O'Gara's. The St. Paul Czech & Slovak Dancers will give lessons.
