Augustoviz: Lynx know how to keep an audience's attention -- tight finishes

The Lynx look like they play at another level at times. Then they seem to get bored or lackadaisical after getting a big lead.

So far it has not cost them a victory. But it is not a trend that coach Cheryl Reeve wants to see continue.

On Sunday, the Lynx were like William Tell in the first half. They shot and didn't miss, making 68.8 percent of everything they threw up against San Antonio. Who does that? Maybe in practice, but not while being guarded.

The Lynx built a 50-29 lead -- and the Silver Stars' last three point came at the buzzer on Becky Hammon's heave from halfcourt.

The second half was different. The Silver Stars even had a chance to tie at the end, down by two, hoping for a rebound on a free throw that Hammon would miss on purpose.

Didn't happen. The Lynx won 83-79 to remain unbeaten. They are now 7-0, alone atop the WNBA. The last team with a perfect record.

In the anything-can-happen-on-a-given-night category, winless New York beat previously unbeaten Indiana. The Fever is now 4-1, the Liberty 1-5. Go figure.
