Ryan Doumit is not in the starting lineup tonight. Doumit, who missed four games with a sore right calf muscle, has had the muscle tested while on the basepaths over the last two games and manager Ron Gardenhire wanted to give him a break.

That means Drew Butera will start behind the plate today. That's good, because Butera worked with Cole De Vries while they were in Rochester earlier this year. Joe Mauer will start as the designated hitter.

The Twins can finish with a 6-2 road trip with a win tonight.

De Vries will become the 33rd player from the University of Minnesota to play in the majors, according to the university. He will become the 14th Gopher to play for the Twins.

Thanks to historian Joel Rippel, here's a list of members of the Gopher-Twins club:

Paul Giel, Jerry Kindall, George Thomas, Fred Bruckbauer, Dave Winfield, Paul Molitor, Terry Steinbach, Greg Olson, Denny Neagle, J.T. Bruett, Brent Gates, Brian Raabe and Glen Perkins. De Vries is next.

Twins outfield prospect Joe Benson will miss six weeks due to hamate bone surgery on his left hand. A rough year just got rougher for him.

Just found out that Snoop Dogg is throwing out the first pitch tonight, fo' shizzle.
