DULUTH — Brittany Ammerman can sometimes be overshadowed by her older sister Brooke, a senior assistant captain for Wisconsin who has piled up 74 points this season. Not on Friday, when Brittany led the Badgers with two goals in a 6-2 victory over Boston College in the NCAA women's hockey semifinals.
Brittany, a sophomore, had scored 46 fewer points than her sister this season. But after BC took a quick lead on Emily Field's goal 57 seconds in she beat goalie Corinne Boyles from the right circle to begin a string of five consecutive goals by the top-ranked Badgers. Wisconsin, the defending champion, will play in the NCAA title game for the sixth time in seven years.
Brooke Ammerman got in on the action, too, scoring the Badgers' fifth goal early in the third period. Her team's superior speed, poise and stout defense had things well under control by then.
Carolyne Prevost put Wisconsin ahead 2-1 at 13:47 of the first when she stripped the puck from the Eagles right in front of their bench, then slipped the puck in for a shorthanded goal.
