Chart: Free-falling Wild

  • January 17, 2012 - 11:48 PM

On the morning of Dec. 13 and through 30 games, the Wild woke up with the most points in the NHL (43) and a six-point lead over Vancouver in the Northwest Division. But since then -- beginning with a 2-1 loss at Winnipeg -- the Wild has won only two of 16 games and is hanging on to eighth in the Western Conference. A look at then and now:

First 30 Past 16

Record 20-7-3 2-10-4

Goals for 79 (2.63) 27 (1.69)

Goals against 64 (2.13) 54 (3.38)

Here are some other nuggets from the Wild's 16-game slump:

• Wild's power play: 3-for-44 (6.8 percent)

• Opponents' power play: 13-for-56 (23.2 percent)

• Short-handed goals allowed by Wild: 2 (in other words, only one fewer than power-play goals the Wild has scored)
