The Twins have reinstated first baseman Justin Morneau from the 15-day disabled list. making him available for tonight's game against the Cleveland Indians.
Morneau has been out since June because of a left wrist strain, but he needed surgery to remove a herniated disk fragment from his neck that was leading to problems with his wrist and numbness in his fingers. He went 0-for-4 on Thursday as the designated hitter for Class AAA Rochester but batted .367 with a homer and 8 RBI in seven games with the Red Wings.
The Twins placed outfielder Jason Repko on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder bursitis to make room for Morneau.
With Alexi Casilla being activated on Wednesday, the Twins will have their first-choice lineup on the field for the first time since Apr. 7. Five position players have missed at least 47 games this year.
I'll check in from Progressive Field later this afternoon. I just arrived at the hotel but my room is not ready. They are blasting Kenny G music throughout the lobby, and it's driving me nuts. David Sanborn, yes. Dave Koz, okay. But listening to Kenny G makes my eardrums ache..
