Minnesota Orchestra received a good review from New York Times chief critic Anthony Tommasini for their Monday night performance at Carnegie Hall.

While he chided the orchestra on not performing something new (he seemed a little weary of more Beethoven and Sibelius), Tommasini nonetheless credited Osmo Vanska and the band for sounding great. He indicated the Beethoven Violin Concerto showed some of the "shortcomings of Vanska's approach," although if you read on it's not clear what those shortcomings are.

It was clear, though, not even reading between the lines, that Tommasini wants the Minnesota Orchestra to show what it can do with some new American music.

Have a look, here.
