Child protection task force seeks public comment

Gov. Mark Dayton's child protection task force wants the public's help to improve the system.

The task force is seeking comment on several facets of child protection, including how social workers respond to abuse reports, whether they are adequately trained, how effective is state oversight, and how to make the system more transparent.

The subjects, as well as instructions on how to send in your comment, can be found on the task force website, http://www.dhs.state.mn.us/childprotectiontaskforce.

Dayton formed the task force following the Star Tribune's reporting on the child protection system, including a story on 4-year-old Eric Dean, who was reported for abuse 15 times before he was murdered by his stepmother last year.
