– The federal government shutdown may mean some changes in November for the Minnesota Governor’s Deer Opener.

The governor’s opener will be held in Fergus Falls this year, and some of the activities were planned for the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center. With the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service affected by the shutdown, it’s not known whether agency employees will be back to work by Nov. 8, which is the day before the deer firearms season opens.

Jean Bowman with the Fergus Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau said organizers will wait until Monday to see where the shutdown stands. She says “Plan B” could involve moving some of the Prairie Wetlands activities over to the adjacent fairgrounds.
