ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Grammy-winning Minnesota duo can now say they've strummed their way through the state Capitol with a canoe in tow.

The Minneapolis-based Okee Dokee Brothers held a quick show Tuesday in the governor's office. Youngsters from a St. Paul early childhood education program were in the select audience. So was Gov. Mark Dayton, who issued a proclamation declaring a day in their honor.

The bluegrass duo of Joe Mailander and Justin Lansing won the music honor this year for Best Children's Album for their "Can You Canoe?" disc. The childhood friends based the album on a month-long canoe trip they took down the Mississippi River.

They are scheduled to perform again at the Minnesota State Fair, which opens its run at the end of the week.
