DFL gubernatorial candidate Matt Entenza's latest ad -- his fourth -- features the voice but not the visage of his running mate Robyne Robinson, a former TV anchor.

The ad continues the Entenza domination of the air waves -- he's run multiple ads. His primary rival Mark Dayton last week put a one minute bio ad on the air. DFLer Margaret Anderson Kelliher has yet to run television ads.

Entenza's also appeared to dominate the Internet ads and has dropped four mailings into the postal service, showing the campaign money he has to spend compared to other campaigns.

The former state representative's latest ad works to capitalize on potential anger with British Petroleum with the lines, "We've watched in horror. Raged at BP. Felt the pain of all that's been lost. We need to do more than clean up the spill. We need to clean up our act."

Entenza is the second DFLer who has tried to get folks riled about the BP spill on the airwaves. Tarryl Clark, a Democrat running against Republican U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, unveiled an anti-Bachmann anti-BP ad last week.

The ad is also interesting because it uses Robinson, not as an onscreen presence but as a voice over artist. Her voice may be well known to Minnesota voters because of her years on television news, which may make them feel more comfortable hearing Entenza's message. His previous ad featured a woman's voice but not one that had immediate resonance. Entenza himself read the ad before that, which began with the candidate speaking in the third person about himself.

It is also interesting because it appears to be Entenza's first that pings off of recent events, rather than focusing on more general issues or explaining Entenza's biography. It may mark a different phase in his ad campaign.
