All 10 members of Minnesota’s congressional delegation are safe after reports of a shooting on Capitol Hill that led police to lock down the area.

The lockdown has been lifted and the House of Representatives has resumed business.

IIn the moments after the shooting, U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum was returning from the Capitol, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar was just wrapping up at the Senate Democratic Caucus lunch and U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison was in the middle of an interview in the Democratic cloakroom. The rest of the delegation were spread out across the Hill, conducting business.

“We can’t take anything for granted here between what’s happened with the anthrax and with what happened to my colleague Gabby Giffords at her town hall,” McCollum said.

“I would say that in some ways there was probably less pandemonium than there might have been had we not been in a shutdown. There are fewer tourists around. There wasn’t an issue of what to do with the people at the Smithsonian or the Library of Congress and some of the other buildings that are open to the public around here.”
