7 p.m. vs. Denver • Target Center FSN Plus, 830-AM

A play-in game for postseason

Preview: It's the Timberwolves' biggest game in 14 years. The Nuggets have won six consecutive games — and eight of their past 10 — after beating Portland 88-82 at home Monday to force Wednesday's winner-take-all game at Target Center. Included in that six-game winning streak was Thursday's 100-96 victory over the Wolves in Denver. … Wolves veteran F Taj Gibson practiced a little Tuesday after he played only eight minutes in Monday's 113-94 home victory over Memphis because of a sore neck. He will be re-evaluated Wednesday, but given his history, expect him to play. … The Wolves lead the season series 2-1 after winning 112-104 at Denver just before Christmas and 128-125 in overtime at Target Center a week later. The Nuggets beat 100-96 in Denver last Thursday in a comeback after Wolves star Karl-Anthony Towns fouled out with 1:46 left.

Players to watch: Neither Denver star guard Gary Harris nor Wolves four-time All Star Jimmy Butler played in last week's game. Harris returned Monday after a three-week injury absence and scored 12 points in 18 minutes. Butler returned on Friday in Los Angeles from February knee surgery and has averaged 16.5 points on 55.5 percent shooting from the field and 3.5 steals in two games since then. … Nuggets center Nikola Jokic's 15-point, 20-rebound, 11-assist game against the Blazers was his 10th triple double in 2018 and his second consecutively. At 7-feet tall, Jokic is averaging 6.1 assists a game — tied for 17th in the league.

Injuries: Wolves F Taj Gibson (neck soreness) was injured Friday when Lakers forward Julius Randle fell on him during a game in Los Angeles. Nuggets F Tyler Lydon (knee surgery) is out.
