One year of Claeys
The book on Tracy Claeys' first year as head coach:
Record: 7-6. He was 2-4, including the Quick Lane Bowl victory, in 2015; 5-2 this season.
Best win: Has to be the bowl game, a 21-14 victory over Central Michigan in Detroit. We'll go with his W in Maryland (31-10) earlier this month for his best regular-season victory.
The losses: He started with three tough ones, all against top-15 teams (Michigan, Ohio State and Iowa), and had back-to-back L's this season at Penn State and against Iowa. That first one, a 29-26 loss to Michigan, was an all-timer, as the Gophers were stopped on the goal line on the final play on Halloween night at TCF Bank Stadium.
