James Beresford went out on the field for early work on Tuesday. When he returned to the clubhouse, there were about a dozen balloons in his stall, many with the message, ``Congratulations," written on them.

Beresford immediately began the search for the person who ordered them. But the answer came quickly in the form of a text message.

``Hahaha. My plan worked," Royals reliever Peter Moylan wrote.

Moylan, a fellow Australian, wanted to surprise Beresford a day after Beresford received the surprise of his life - a promotion to the majors. And Beresford proudly displayed the balloons.

Beresford, 27, didn't think he had earned a call up after batting .269 for the Red Wings this season, but the Twins rewarded Beresford for spending 10 years with the organization.
Twins manager Paul Molitor hopes to get Beresford in a game in the next few days.

Both Tommy Milone and Trevor May threw simulated games on Tuesday and, while they were very crisp, they appeared to get through it without any problems, The plan is to make them available out of the bullpen starting on Friday.

Tyler Duffey said he went to Class AAA Rochester and cleared his mind. It sure showed as he took a no-hitter into the late innings in his last start. He said he attacked hitters and used his changeup effectively. He's back with the major league club and will start on Friday against Cleveland. He will be followed by Hector Santiago and Jose Berrios. Andrew Albers has been moved to the bullpen.

Kennys Vargas was the third and final player to be called up after Monday's game. So no Daniel Palka or Adam Brett Walker this year. When a team has a season like the Twins are having, most of the prospects end up in the majors before September,

The Twins, if I counted correctly, have 16 pitches and 16 position players on the active roster. Milone and May would give them 18 pitchers.

Miguel Sano is not in the lineup today, but he batted in the simulated game so he's probably available to pinch hit.
