A teenager pleaded guilty Friday to assaulting a Como Park High School teacher in March.

The boy, who was 16 at the time of the incident, was initially charged with felony third-degree assault, but he pleaded to a lesser count Friday, which turned his public case private due to his age.

"The juvenile in this incident pled to a charge that, given its level of severity, cannot be part of the public record according to Minnesota law," said a statement issued by Ramsey County attorney's office spokesman Dennis Gerhardstein. "Minnesota law does, however, allow me to confirm for you that the victim in this case is both supportive of and pleased with today's resolution in juvenile court."

Friday's plea is the second admission of guilt in a March 9 attack on teacher Mark Rawlings,.

In April, another 16-year-old boy agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor assault.

According to the initial petition: The two students walked into Rawlings' classroom to assault another student who had apparently sold poor-quality marijuana to yet another student.

Witnesses told police that Rawlings asked them to leave. The students refused, and Rawlings touched them to escort them out.

The student who pleaded guilty in April punched Rawlings in the chin. The student who pleaded guilty on Friday punched Rawlings in the right eye, the complaint said.

The three fell to the floor, where Rawlings struck the back of his head and briefly lost consciousness. The incident was filmed, presumably by another student, and posted on Facebook.

Rawlings was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he was diagnosed with a minor concussion.
