Second-seeded East Ridge escaped with a 49-48 victory over third-seeded Woodbury in the Class 4A, Section 4 boys' basketball quarterfinals.

Woodbury's Michael Jones was fouled on a drive to the basket with the chance to tie the game with 1.1 seconds left. He made the first shot, but the second did not fall and East Ridge's Courtney Brown pulled down his 10th rebound. Jones finished with 31 points.

Brown had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Ben Carlson led the Raptors with 18 points.

In the other semifinal, top-seeded Cretin-Derham Hall beat North St. Paul 77-63.

Daniel Oturu led the Raiders with a triple-double. The University of Minnesota commit scored a season-high 30 points to go with 19 rebounds and 10 blocks.

Ryan Larson added 18 points and eight assists for the Raiders. Goodnews Kpegeol scored 17 to lead the Polars.

Cretin-Derham Hall and East Ridge will meet in the section championship on Thursday at Hastings High School.

Section 2: Third-seeded Edina jumped out to an early lead on second-seeded Prior Lake and cruised to a 70-62 victory. Jack Middleton led the Hornets with 23 points. Jacob Hutson had 19 points. Dawson Garcia, Robert Jones and Sam Nissen had 13 points each to lead the Lakers ... In the other semifinal, top-seeded Eden Prairie defeated fourth-seeded Chaska 67-48. Kyler Kluge led the Eagles with 16 points. Cole Nicholson led the Hawks with 15 points.

Section 8: Tony Dahl made all six free throw attempts for sixth-seeded Buffalo in the final minute to clinch a 72-70 victory over seventh-seeded Moorhead in semifinal round. He finished the game with 21 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Matthew Willert led the Bison with 25 points. Brandon Maatz had 14 points and three rebounds for the Bison. Drew Hagen led the Spuds with 20 points. Maleeck Harden had 15 points and eight rebounds ... In the other semifinal, top-seeded Maple Grove defeated fourth-seeded St. Michael-Albertville 71-59. Nate Adams led the Crimson with 21 points. Jared Rainey had 17 points. Xavier Thurman led the Knights with 19 points.

Class 3A

Section 5: Top-seeded Willmar overcame a four-point halftime deficit to defeat fifth-seeded Big Lake 57-52 in overtime in the semifinal round. The Cardinals scored the first seven points in overtime to avoid the upset. Drey Dirksen led Willmar with 21 points. Logan Nagorski sent the game to overtime with a pair of free throws with 3.3 seconds left for the Hornets. He finished with a team-high 18 points for Big Lake ... In the other semifinal, second-seeded Delano defeated third-seeded Monticello 80-76. Calvin Wishart led the Tigers with 48 points, 19 rebounds and six assists.

Section 6: Top-seeded DeLaSalle beat Benilde-St. Margaret's 74-57. The Islanders were led by Gabe Kalscheur's 25 points. Riley Miller scored 19 for the Red Knights. With the win, DeLaSalle looks to extend its state record for consecutive championships to seven. ... Orono defeated Cooper 87-77 in the other semifinal matchup. Three Spartans players topped 20 points, with Max Bjorklund leading the way with 25. Jarvis Omersa had 22 points to go with nine rebounds. Colton Codute had 20 points and 10 assists. Jalen Miller had 21 for the Hawks.

Class 2A

Section 5: Eric McDavid made a go-ahead layup and David Roddy blocked a tying shot attempt in the final seconds to give fourth-seeded Breck a 71-69 victory over fifth-seeded Maranatha in the quarterfinal round. Roddy led Breck with 25 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocks. Beijan Newbern led Maranatha with 22 points. ... In another quarterfinal game, top-seeded Minneapolis North defeated eighth-seeded Litchfield 75-30. Tayler Johnson led the Polars with 22 points. Owen Boerema and Alex Gruenke led the Dragons with nine points each.

Section 4: Seventh-seeded St. Paul Academy upset second-seeded Cristo Rey Jesuit 74-61. Gus Grunau led the Spartans with 34 points. Franklin Doyle led the Pumas with 22 points and James Sommer had 14.
