Chicago -

Quick slants from the Vikings' victory at Chicago on Sunday:

1. Stefon Diggs has played in four NFL games. He has produced in Denver against the same Broncos defense that shut down the Packers on Sunday night. He has shredded the Chiefs, made the play of the game in a comeback victory at Detroit and made the play of the game in a comeback victory at Chicago.

He is reminding me of Randy Moss as a rookie. Not in playing style or sheer athletic ability, but in game dominance and savvy.

2. Even though it came against a mediocre Bears team, this was a big victory for the Vikings in many ways. It gave them a second road win in the division. It broke their losing streak at Soldier Field. It came in a game that would have been easy to let slip away. It marked the fifth fourth-quarter comeback victory for Teddy Bridgewater, who is now 11-8 as a starter. It gave the Vikings margin for error for that inevitable disappointing loss that almost every NFL team suffers at some point.

3. Adrian Peterson ran harder, in my eyes, than he has in recent weeks. To me he's been so intent on breaking the long run that he has been tiptoeing around the line of scrimmage. Against the Bears, he hit the hole hard, then looked for daylight. So instead of the Vikings being 2nd-and-12 all day, they were 2nd-and-5ish. That's what enabled them to win on a relatively poor day for Bridgewater.

4. Mike Wallace told me after the game that he lost at least two balls in the sun, including the long route down the right sideline that could have been a touchdown.

5. It was funny watching young receivers Charles Johnson and Stefon Diggs leaving the lockerroom. Diggs wore a black turtleneck with a grey checked jacket. Johnson wore a jacket featuring cartoon captions, as in Batman: Boom. KaPow. Blam.

6. I like Mike Zimmer. I think he's an excellent coach. I love his story - that he kept slugging it out as an assistant, remaining true to his personality, while teams kept hiring other people to fail, until he finally got his shot. But the whole ``checkbook" thing is silly. He keeps saying in press conferences things like ``nobody said we could win on the road in the division," or nobody said they could win in Chicago.

That's not true. What people have been saying is that he hadn't won on the road in the division until he beat Detroit, and the Vikings hadn't won in Chicago since 2007. Those aren't taunts or insults. They're facts. And now the facts are that the Vikings have done those things.
