St. Croix Preparatory Academy senior Rose Kaetterhenry became the first girls' basketball player in her school's history to score 1,000 career varsity points. The school, based in Stillwater, opened in 2004.

Kaetterhenry reached the milestone in a 50-33 victory against Minneapolis Henry on Dec. 29. A fifth-year varsity player, she averaged a team-best 14.9 points per game as the Lions built a 9-3 record.

She was recognized for her feat during the Lions' home game last Tuesday.

Also in girls' basketball, Maple Grove senior guard Kenzie Barta verbally committed to play at Harvard. Through 10 games, she led her current Crimson team with 15.5 points per game.

Hockey streaks and stats

Two-time defending Class 2A girls' hockey state champion Hill-Murray rolled to a 14-0-1 record in the season's first half, averaging more than five goals per game and allowing fewer than one. … After falling to Centennial on Dec. 8, the Blaine girls' hockey team won nine consecutive games and allowed just seven total goals during that stretch. A rematch with Centennial looms Tuesday. … In boys' hockey, Stillwater has built an 11-1 record. A possible Class 2A, Section 4 championship game preview awaits Jan. 23 at Hill-Murray. … Since Anoka upset Blaine on Dec. 19, the Tornadoes won five consecutive games and the Schwan Cup Bronze Division title.
