Details: A vacant Maple Grove parcel once slated for a credit union could now host a child care center and an additional future commercial building.

The 2.2-acre parcel, part of Maple Grove's Dalton Commons planned unit development, is on the southwest corner of County Road 30 and Garland Lane N., directly across from a Wal-Mart Supercenter and not far from other retailers clustered around the intersection of County Road 30 and Dunkirk Lane N.

The lot is owned by Wings Financial Credit Union. In 2008, City County Federal Credit Union laid plans to construct a new branch as well as a medical office building at the site. But with the coming of the financial crisis and subsequent recession, the project was never completed. City County merged with Wings Financial in 2010. The lot has recently been listed for sale for $850,000.

In August, an entity related to Mohan Dhavileswarapu, CEO of Plymouth-based Genisys Technologies Inc., submitted plans to construct a pair of commercial buildings on the site, with the first phase being the 11,600-square-foot Kiddiegarten Learning Center.

The developers say they've obtained a U.S. Small Business Administration loan from Venture Bank and expect to close on the site shortly before beginning construction in December. Plans for the second phase, a similar-sized commercial building, are to follow at a future date.
