The school: Located in Cedar Falls, just outside Waterloo. It's a little more than 100 miles northeast of Des Moines and about 220 miles south of the Twin Cities. The school has a little more than 12,000 undergrads.

Coach: Ben Jacobson, ninth season with the Panthers, 196-104.

Record: 30-3, Missouri Valley Conference tournament champions.

First-round matchup: UNI received the No. 5 seed in the East Region — the highest in program history — and will play No. 12 seed Wyoming (25-9) on Friday in Seattle.

Previous NCAA appearances: The Panthers are making their seventh NCAA tournament appearance and are 3-6, with their best showing in 2010 when they upset No. 1 seed Kansas in the second round before losing in the Sweet Sixteen to Michigan State.

Player to watch: Senior forward Seth Tuttle was named a second-team All-America by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Monday. He leads the team in points (15.3 per game), rebounds (6.8) and assists (3.33) and is a finalist for the Wooden Award and semifinalist for the Naismith Award.
