'TRIBUTE TO BENNY GOODMAN'

Saturday: When British clarinetist Julian Bliss was 16, the London Times proclaimed him "the most charismatic instrumentalist that Britain has produced for decades." Now 27, the former child prodigy who played for Prince Philip at 6 is mostly known as a classical artist. He performs classical repertoire on the international concert and festival scenes, and his several recordings include the Mozart and Nielsen clarinet concertos. But he also plays a mean and swinging Benny Goodman, inspired by a CD he first heard as a 7-year-old. With his septet, featuring Neal Thornton on piano, he'll bring the King of Swing to Orchestra Hall . (8 p.m. Sat., 11th and Nicollet Mall, Mpls, $30-$60. 612-371-5656 or mnorch.org) PAMELA ESPELAND
