A student at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., was crowned the 2012 Aquatennial Queen of the Lakes on Friday. She is Amanda Bertrand, 21, a former Montevideo Fiesta Days queen.

At Concordia, Bertrand works as a resident dormitory assistant and at the campus newspaper, the Concordian; is captain of the dance team, sings in the chapel choir and is a member of the track and field team. After college, she hopes to work for a travel magazine, perhaps as an international photojournalist.

Presiding with Bertrand as Aquatennial princesses will be Stephani Reding, 20, the former Miss Maple Grove, and Cayla Yund, 18, the former Miss Cambridge.

Reding attends Winona State University, where she works as a resident assistant and is active in several clubs. Yund, who will attend Northwestern College in Roseville this fall, works as a dance instructor.
