A Minneapolis teen was sentenced to more than 14 years in prison Wednesday for a string of violent robberies in southwest Minneapolis and Edina that left two injured.

Antonio Timberlake, 17, pleaded guilty to 11 counts of felony robbery and assault last month for four separate robberies that occurred in March 2014.

The four robberies were similar, according to the Hennepin County attorney's office.

Just after midnight on March 30, an Edina man got off a bus at Xerxes Avenue and 56th Street and began walking west on 56th. Timberlake, who was then 16, and a 13-year-old boy followed the victim and beat him, taking his satchel and a cellphone. The man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, including a blow to the head and a stab wound that hit an artery.

In another robbery on March 28, the victim's right lung was punctured after he was stabbed in the chest.

Timberlake was arrested March 30 for a robbery of three juveniles at the Southdale Center. Timberlake, Navarr Ross, 18, of Minneapolis and a 13-year-old robbed the group of juveniles, stealing a cellphone and a backpack. All three fled and were arrested in a nearby neighborhood.

In December Ross was sentenced to 5½ years in prison and convicted on two counts of aggravated robbery.
