Indianapolis ā€“ Coon Rapids lost in its bid to go to the Little League World Series on Saturday, falling 10-0 in four innings to Webb City, Mo., in the Midwest Regional Championship.

Cale McCallister pitched a four-hitter with three strikeouts for Webb City and, batting leadoff, went 3-for-3, including a two-run homer and double, and scored three runs. Blake Smith also hit a homer for the Missouri team, which scored three runs in the first, second and fourth innings and one in the third.

Coon Rapids, which scored 26 runs in winning its first two games of the regional, had its first threat in the third. With one out, Myles Taylor walked and Antonio Manos singled to put runners at first and second with cleanup hitter Parker Rohloff at bat.

But McCallister got out the jam in a most unusual way. On a double steal, Taylor was clearly thrown out trying to steal third base. And, with the base momentarily uncovered, Manos made a dash for third, too.

He made it but overslid the bag and the umpire apparently ruled he didn't keep a hand on the base. McCallister made the tag, ending the inning.

Webb City lost its first game in the regional, dropping into the losers' bracket but then won four in a row, outscoring those opponents 49-5.

Manos started on the mound for Coon Rapids but before he could get the first out, Webb City had a 2-0 lead. McCallister, Smith and Devrin Weathers all got singles as Webb City got its first run and the second scored on a wild pitch. After two-plus innings, Manos was lifted for Aiden Widmer-Murray with the score 6-0. He pitched 1ā€Šā…” innings.

Jack Vlasaty came in to get the final out, but not before giving up an RBI double to pinch-hitter Noah Mitchell. That made the score 10-0, which meant Coon Rapids had to score at least one run in the bottom of the inning or the game would end early.

Rohloff and Diego Waisenen singled for Coon Rapids in the fourth and, when a relay throw on Waisenen's hit was dropped, moved to second and third with one out. McCallister kept them there, striking out Vlasaty and getting pinch-hitter Sam Halvorson on a groundout.

With the victory, Webb City advances to the Little League World Series, which will be played Aug. 20-30 in South Williamsport, Pa., for a second time. It made its first trip in 2002.
