A school bus was struck by an SUV Tuesday morning and then crashed into a house in north Minneapolis.
The SUV ran a red light and hit the nearly empty school bus about 8:20 a.m. at 42nd and Penn Avenues N., police spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington said.
A man and a woman in the SUV were hurt and taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Barrington said. Their injuries did not appear serious, Barrington added.
Police at the scene said the SUV driver said the brakes failed.
On the Minneapolis School District bus was one child, the son of the school bus driver. A district spokeswoman said the district allows drivers to transport their children, with permission.
