The man who died Tuesday of a gunshot wound in north Minneapolis has been identified as 25-year-old Parrish Gray of Minneapolis.

A car pulled up to an officer on W. Broadway near Emerson Avenue N. around 7 p.m. Three passengers got out of the car and told the officer that Gray, who was still in the car, had been shot, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brandi Gray, who identified herself as a close relative, said she remembers Gray as very outgoing.

"He was truly a jokester, enjoyable to be around," she said.

She said Gray, who attended Patrick Henry High School, used to be affiliated with a gang but had recently turned his life around and was doing construction work. She said she doesn't think his death was related to his past gang ties.

"He's been working and trying to get his life in order," she said.

Brandi Gray said a vigil is being organized for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the location on W. Broadway where Gray died.

Police are still investigating any possible suspects or motive. Anyone with information can contact the police tip line at 612-692-8477.
