A man with a knife attacked a woman Wednesday evening near the University of Minnesota, fleeing when she screamed for help, according to police. The woman was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

The woman told police she was attacked from behind at 7:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Huron Boulevard, between Fulton and Essex Streets on the southeast edge of the Minneapolis campus. He didn't demand any valuables or take anything from her, police said.

The man was described as white, in his early 20s, between 5 feet 11 and 6 feet 2, with a slim build. He wore a dark sweatshirt with the hood up. Anyone with information is asked to call the Minneapolis police tip line at 612-692-8477 and refer to case number MP-12-052523.
