A motorist was killed in a head-on collision in North Branch on Saturday evening, according to the State Patrol.

The accident occurred on Hwy. 95 and 392nd Street at 6:20 p.m. on the two-lane Chisago County road, police said. According to the patrol, a westbound 1998 Nissan 200SX crossed the centerline and crashed into a 2006 Dodge Durango headed east.

The driver of the Nissan, Frances Anderson, 72, of Ogilvie, Minn., was killed, the State Patrol said. The driver of the Durango was identified as Tammie R. Pliscott, 43, of Forest Lake, who was taken to the hospital in Cambridge with injuries that the patrol called non-life-threatening. Road conditions were described in a police report as "dry."

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not listed as a factor in the crash, said the patrol. The accident remains under investigation.
