The Drive will keep you up to speed with the latest on Twin Cities commuting.

7:25 a.m. update: A fine Friday, except on 35W and Hwy. 169 in south metro

Commuters are having experiencing few problems on mainline roads Friday morning as traffic levels remain on the light side.

Drivers on southbound 35W from Lake Drive to 694 will see speeds drop, but nothing more than a minor inconvenience. The trip from the Forest Lake Split to downtown Minneapolis is a reasonable 25 minutes.

No issues on westbound 94 from Hudson to downtown St. Paul with 15 minutes needed.  The same is true on eastbound 94 from Hwy. 101 in Rogers into the Maple Grove Split. That is an easy 10 minutes.

A crash with serious injuries has the ramp from westbound 494 to 24th Avenue closed. Emergency workers are extricating two occupants from a car that slammed into a tree.  Look for traffic delays from Cedar Avenue past the scene.

Now, for the two choke points. Northbound 35W jams from Hwy. 13 to 98th Street. It's 15 minutes up to 494.  Northbound 169 is a parking lot from Hwy. 101 north past Anderson Lakes Pkwy. Plan on 15 minutes from Canterbury Road to 494.
