Blue Line trains are running on time this morning even as Metro Transit police investigate a crash that happened along the line Sunday night in downtown Minneapolis.

A motorist and a Green Line train that was on a training run collided at 10:40 p.m. at 5th Street and Portland Avenue.

The woman who was driving the car was evaluated by paramedics on the scene and released. The train operator was not hurt, said John Siqveland, a Metro Transit spokesman.

The Green Line train was northbound on 5th Street heading toward Target Field when the southbound vehicle on Portland collided with the train, Siqveland said.

The car was towed from the scene. There was minor damage to the train, which departed under its own power after about an hour, Siqveland said.

Per standard procedure, the rail operator was tested for drugs and alcohol.

Blue Line trains continued to run without interruption, but both northbound and southbound trains shared an open track near the scene, Siqveland said.

Blue and Green Line trains share tracks in downtown Minneapolis.

This morning, the scene is clear and train traffic is running without delay.
