All the hoopla on the east end of the Plymouth Avenue Bridge in northeast Minneapolis on Saturday was to celebrate the completion of repairs that have taken nearly two years.

As of Saturday, all lanes of the bridge spanning the Mississippi River are back open, with along with bike lanes, too.

Officials closed the bridge in October 2010 after inspections found significant deterioration in concrete and cables inside the bridge's box girders.

Repairs began last year and the bridge was reopened to traffic last fall, albiet with lane restrictions as the work continued.

More lane restrictions were put in place earlier this year so crews could complete the work.

The bridge was built in 1983.
