8:35 a.m. update: The slow slog

At this moment, we are accident free on the metro system, but earlier crashes and incidents have left behind heavy traffic, congestion and increased travel times.

Among the worst areas are on eastbound 94 from 42nd Avenue through the Lowry Hill Tunnel over to the Mississippi River bridge. That trip is still at 22 minutes.

Westbound 94 is 30 minutes from Johnson Pkwy. in St. Paul to 11th Street in Minneapolis.

On Hwy. 100, northbound traffic is slow and go from 50th Street up to 394.  Southbound traffic is loosening from 94 to 394 following an incident at 42nd Avenue that had the lanes closed for nearly an hour earlier this morning.

The Crosstown in both directions and 494 in both directions from Hwy. 100 to Cedar Avenue is 18 minutes.

Northbound 35W from the Crosstown to downtown Minneapolis is packed. Plan on 15 minutes there.

Southbound 494 is heavy from Bass Lake Road to 394. That is 17 minutes.

Look for slow downs on northbound 35W from County 42 up to the Minnesota River bridge.
