Posted by: Tim Harlow Updated: April 24, 2013 - 9:00 AM

In conjunction with MnDOT's I-35E Cayuga Improvement Project, motorists will encounter lane and road closings starting today.

The left lane of northbound I-35E between Phalen Boulevard and Maryland Avenue will be closed from 9 to 11 a.m. today.

The right lane of both directions of I-35E between I-94 and Maryland Avenue will be closed Wednesday for a few hours. The southbound lane will close at 7 p.m. and the northbound lane will close starting at 8 p.m. Access to ramps in the area will be maintained during the lane closures.  The lanes should be open in time for Thursday's morning rush hour.

L'Orient Street between Genesse Street and Granite Street  closed at 5 a.m. today. It will reopen by 8 a.m. Monday.  Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route around the block to avoid the work zone.

This work is part of the project to reconstruct I-35E between University Avenue and Maryland Avenue, including replacement of the Cayuga Bridge, the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge and the railroad and the railroad bridges along I-35E.
