Plainclothes police officers working downtown Tuesday evening were passing through the parking lot behind the Pantages Theater when a man approached, according to a police report.

"Hey, come here," he said. The man stepped up to the police and asked if they wanted to buy a turkey. For five dollars.

The police cited him with a misdemeanor charge of peddling without a license.

The 51-year-old St. Paul man promised to leave the area if he could keep the turkey, police reported. He was sent away, turkey in hand.
