The license of a St. Paul Wendy's franchise was suspended in August after the owner failed to respond to the city over a health code violation in May, according to St. Paul City Council minutes.

In April, an inspection of Wendy's at 1780 University Av. W. found some food inadequately chilled. Some sauces were as warm as 52 degrees, 11 degrees higher than allowed. The temperature of their tartar sauce was 52 degrees. Blue cheese sauce and mayonnaise were both at 45 degrees. A reinspection in May found that the temperature of their blue cheese sauce was 68 degrees, thousand island dressing was 64 degrees and mayonnaise was 48 degrees. The city attorney's office told Four Crown II Inc., the licensee, to pay a $250 fine and schedule a reinspection or face suspension. On August 11, after the attorney's office said the restaurant didn't comply, the City Council suspended the license and upheld the fine. Daniel Opitz, of Four Crown II, said the business has been working with the city and wasn't notified the City Council had taken action.
