St. Cloud man, 21, fatally electrocuted while trimming trees in Minnetonka neighborhood

A 21-year-old tree trimmer who died after being electrocuted was identified on Saturday.

Travis L. Sutherland of St. Cloud died Wednesday at Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was taken after being electrocuted while working in a Minnetonka neighborhood, the Hennepin County medical examiner said.

According to police, Sutherland came in contact with an electrical power line just after 1 p.m. Wednesday while trimming trees in the 19100 block of Townline Road. He was shocked and unconscious about 25 feet off the ground. Emergency responders from Minnetonka, Edina and Richfield were called to the accident and freed Sutherland after deactivating the power lines. He was taken to HCMC, where he was pronounced dead.

Minnetonka Police and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry are investigating.
