Fortune magazine is out with the best places to work in America, and internet giant Google tops the list.

Two Minnesota employers landed in the top 100 -- the Rochester-based Mayo Clinic landed at No. 59, and General Mills of Golden Valley came in at No. 69.

The magazine noted that at Mayo, "Hire for life is the goal at the prestigious health-care provider. And it's working. More than 17 percent of the workforce has been here 20 or more years."

Fortune also noted that Mayo's benefits to its employees includes job-sharing, telecommuting, and onsite child care and fitness centers.

As for General Mills, Fortune said: "Of the women who went on maternity leave last year, 96 percent returned, helped by a new policy enabling them to phase back to work on a part-time basis for eight weeks."

General Mills offers employees, among other things, 60 hours of professional training a year, paid sabbaticals, telecommuting and onsite child care.

And why is Google, based in Mountain View, Calif., No. 1? Fortune said it has "continued to mint millionaires as the stock cracked $700. The company gives stock options to 99 percent of employees."
