Home of the Month appears in the Homes section the first Sunday of every month. The program, a partnership between the Star Tribune and the Minnesota chapter of the American Institute of Architects, features architect- designed houses selected by a jury of experts. The houses represent a range of prices, styles and locations.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

What: A midcentury modern home, originally designed by University of Minnesota architecture professor Robert Bliss and his wife, Anna Campbell Bliss, was remodeled for 21st-century living, while respecting its existing aesthetic.

Size: 5,000 square feet includes a master bath addition of 40 square feet.

Design team: Architect Thomas Meyer, project manager Aaron Wittkamper, MS&R, Minneapolis, www.msrltd.com, 612-375-0336, and interior designer Jodi Gillespie.

Contractor: Welch Forsman, Minneapolis.
