Post and pin your Grand Old Day memories

Apparently, there's just not enough to do at Sunday's Grand Old Day in St. Paul. Even though revelers can watch 16 bands on six stages, participate in a hot dog eating contest and take in a parade along shop-lined Grand Avenue, festival organizers want to test your photo-shooting skills, too.

Social strategist Katelyn Bunbury-Novak created a Pinterest Scavenger Hunt for participants to capture memories of Grand Old Day 2012. Social organizers found lots of Facebook posts and tweets from past festivals, but not many photos, said Bunbury-Novak. "That's why we added the photo contest," she said.

The 75-item list includes scenes like a child on a parent's shoulders, someone with a back tattoo, someone checking in on Foursquare, a marching band in the parade and more. Participants have a week after Sunday to upload their photos with a description to Pinterest, create a Grand Old Day 2012 board, and post that URL on the Grand Old Day Facebook fan page.

Bunbury-Novak isn't expecting many people to capture all 75 snapshots, but the family or person who does could win tickets to the Minnesota Wild, "Batman Live -- World Arena Tour" or a basketball signed by the Timberwolves.

To take part, download the application from Facebook #GrandOldDay. Social-ites who plan to capture all 75 images might want to bring a mobile charger, or better yet, plenty of friends with smartphones and photo assignments.
