Folks who want to explore the telenovela format, but can't put up with pesky subtitles, should check out "Jane the Virgin," a new dramedy featuring a breakout performance from Gina Rodriguez, who plays an engaged and engaging young woman who is accidentally inseminated and carrying her boss' baby. Silly? Absolutely. But that's the whole point of telenovelas. Plus, with "Cristela," "Black-ish" and the upcoming sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat," network TV seems finally ready to admit that minorities exist. 8 p.m. WUCW, Ch. 23

Makin' a list

"Countdown to the CMA Awards: 15 Songs That Changed Country Music With Robin Roberts" pays tribute to classics with the help of Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride and Kacey Musgraves. Is it too much to hope for that "Drop Kick Me, Jesus (Through the Goalposts of Life)" makes the cut? 9 p.m. KSTP, Ch. 5

The Spader card

"The Blacklist" may be getting a bit ridiculous, but it's still tons of fun thanks to James Spader's cool, calm persona.
