Uptown bargoers flocked to Minneapolis' newest brewery last Friday. LynLake Brewery moved into the former Theater Antiques space a few doors down from the long-lived Herkimer Pub & Brewery. Led by co-owners Paul Cossette and Mark Anderson, and head brew dude Joel Carlson (a Great Waters and Town Hall alum), LynLake fills an eight-year vacancy at the location, which was once the rumored target for an Uptown Bar revival. Although pints were flowing, its anticipated rooftop patio is still a work in progress.

Nitelife to open on Hennepin

A new downtown Minneapolis nightclub is slated for the shuttered Lure strip-club space on Hennepin Avenue S. at 7th Street. David Kabanuk, owner of neighboring Maruso and BarFly (and its upstairs Skyway Theatre), plans to open Nitelife — which according to city documents will feature an entertainment hodgepodge including mimes, circus acts and "topless shower shows." Looks like bar food, aerialists and lap dances could also be in play.

Fresh Hop Fest on Saturday

September was hop harvest time, which means those fresh-hop beers — made ASAP after the hops are picked — are in season and Town Hall Lanes will throw its annual Fresh Hop Festival on Saturday. The parking lot party features 20-plus wet hop beers from various breweries, including two Town Hall Fresh Hop 100 batches using 150 pounds of Citra hops and an experimental variety, respectively. Consider it an unofficial kickoff to the long-established brew pub's anniversary week, with events and special tappings Monday through Saturday at the Seven Corners location.
